Emergencies

In case of a dental emergency please call our office at 770.483.6800 for further instructions on how to reach our on-call clinic staff member.

How are Appointments Scheduled?

The office attempts to schedule appointments at your convenience and when time is available. Preschool children should be seen in the morning because they are fresher and we can work more slowly with the child for their comfort. School children with a lot of work to be done should be seen in the morning for the same reason. Dental appointments are an excused absence. Missing school can be kept to a minimum when regular dental care is continued.

When we make an appointment, we reserve a room and a provider for your child’s particular dental needs. We ask that if you must change an appointment, please call  our office within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment. A parent or legal guardian must be present for their child’s dental appointment.

Do I Stay with My Child During the Visit?

We ask that you come back to the chair during the appointment.

Insurance & Payment Procedures

Dental care for children is an important part of their total health program. We believe that caring for your child's teeth should not become a financial burden for you. In the event that full payment is not possible at the time services are rendered, we have some payment methods that may assist you. We also accept most insurance carriers. Please call if you have insurance questions.

If you have dental insurance, you are aware that these plans vary greatly. We will help you review your benefits. For your convenience, we also accept major credit cards.

Financing options also available from CareCredit.

We, along with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, recommend you bring your child in by his or her first birthday.

During your first visit, you will be introduced to Dr. Proctor and his experienced team, given an office tour and discuss your child’s unique smile and ways to keep it healthy and beautiful.

Depending on the age of your child, he or she will either be given a knee-to-knee examination (where your baby’s head will rest on our doctor’s knee while their body is on your lap) or a regular exam in the doctor’s chair.

We request that you complete our First Visit Forms prior to arriving for your appointment. We strive for on-time appointments and having these forms before your visit is very helpful.

Your initial exam will last approximately 1 hour. Oral hygiene instructions will also be given with suggestions to help your child care for their own teeth. In most cases, we will also clean their teeth on this visit, and provide an evaluation that will outline any existing dental problems and proposed treatment.

We are experts at easy first visits.

Pediatric Dentistry

Dr. Proctor is a pediatric dentist who specializes in the treatment and prevention of dental disease, as well as the overall oral health of children. Through extra years of schooling, training, experience, and certification, a pediatric dentist like Dr. Proctor is uniquely qualified to treat the dental needs of infants, children, adolescents and those with special healthcare needs.

Why Choose a Pediatric Dentist?

A pediatric patient not only has a different dentition than adults but he/she may have specific dental and behavioral needs that are unique to a child. These needs may include orthodontics, dental sealants, fluoride applications or home treatments, or just simply education in oral hygiene. In addition to treating existing dental problems, our office focuses on prevention through patient and parent education.

We like to feel that you and your child do not come to our office to have their ”cavities fixed” but rather to prevent them. Our mission is to provide all of the educational tools necessary for our patients to enjoy a cavity-free future.

Braces

Growth and Development & Braces

As pediatric dental specialist, Dr. Proctor is an expert on the growth and development of children’s dentition, jaws and craniofacial structures.  An early growth and development evaluation may provide your child with a more positive experience should they need early-orthodontic treatment from our doctors.

Depending on your child’s unique smile, Dr. Proctor may recommend types of treatments including orthodontic appliances, traditional silver colored braces, headgear and retention devices.

Studies have shown that the beautiful smile orthodontics can provide may lead to greater self confidence which could then lead to a more fulfilling life for your child.

Accidents Happen...

Whether an accident happens during our normal business hours or not, know that you can call us and have your child treated promptly.

Clear Braces

Ceramic braces are clear, allowing all the benefits of traditional metal braces while being far less noticeable.

Traditional Braces

Standard metal braces are actually made of very sophisticated metals and their technology has advanced significantly over the past twenty years. We recommend traditional braces to all our patients while allowing you to choose the option that’s right for you.

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners are a series of appliances like mouth guards that are each worn in succession, gradually moving your child’s teeth into position.

Retention

After orthodontic treatment, it's important to wear your retainer to keep your child’s teeth from shifting.
